The caption reads, "The first car to cross the mountains from McMinnville to Tillamook July 1 - 3, 1904. It was owned by 2 Wortmen brothers. It was powered by steam. It is pictured in front of Cloverdale Mercantile Co. The man seated in the car is Chas. Ray. The lady seated in front of the window is Mrs. Charles Nelson, man standing in doorway with hat and coat is W.T. Brown, the local doctor and druggist, man bareheaded with mustache of the Mercantile with Chas. Ray of Cloverdale."
